The Drivers Ed Company is pleased to announce the launch of its BTEC in Driving Skills. This revolutionary approach to driver training is set to reduce the number of road traffic accidents in the UK.

2,947 people died on our roads in 2007 and over 27,500 people were seriously injured. There were also countless minor accidents and near misses. About 20 per cent of newly qualified drivers will have an accident within 12 months of passing their test.

The current driver training system is killing road users. The planned changes to the driving test do not address the real problem.

The DSA are planning to change the way that we teach our pupils to drive. I have listened to a lot of rumours about these changes and done a lot of research. This is what I have found out.

The DSA was forced to make these changes by European legislation and the accident figures.

The changes are relatively simple if you act now. Leave it and you will have to rush to catch up with the DSA.

A self-guided or navigation exercise. The pupil will be asked to drive to a fixed point or to take 1st left 2nd right until I tell you to stop. It is meant to simulate how the pupil will drive without an ADI to guide them.

The way the test is marked will change. There are strong indications that the DSA would like to introduce competency based marking. Rather than looking for faults, the examiner will look for skills. For example: - Does the candidate use the mirrors to make themselves aware of their surroundings?

The DSA is planning to introduce a Drivers Ed workbook. This workbook will include a course of study, the driver's record and a certificate of test readiness. The BTEC in Driving Skills has all these

A new syllabus is planned. It will not alter what we teach our pupils. It will place it in a clear and logical structure. The course materials will be altered to take account of any changes.

Other changes that might come include the end to buying a theory CDrom and a new grading system for ADIs.

The BTEC in Driving Skills answers the problem. It helps the learner to understand why you insist that they check their mirrors. This unique online course runs alongside driving lessons. There is a minimum of paperwork. You need to add your signature about 1.5 times a week.

You and the pupil agree the focus of the next lesson. The learner completed the online tasks. You can use this online learning to frame your briefing next time.

When the pupil is fully independent of all instruction, the course asks them to take three mock tests before their real test. This helps them to focus on the areas they need to develop. It helps them mentally prepare for the test.

The final module of the course contains a compulsory post-test driver-training course. The on the road course is based on the national advanced driver standards. It helps the newly qualified driver to develop the skills they need as a solo driver.

Our research and field trials tell us that this course will help your business to grow.

It will boost your pass rate. The Dutch version of this course raised pass rates by 20%. Our trials showed a 10% rise in first and second time passes. It will stop the pupils leaving driving lessons.

The BTEC brand and the £85 they pay will make them want to carry on driving lessons.

You get £10 for every pupil you sign onto this course.

A great marketing opportunity. Raise your prices by £2 a lesson and offer a free BTEC if they pay for X lessons in advance.

It is at Zero cost to you the instructor. No expensive courses. No hidden fees.
